Prof. Dr. Tamás Sebestyén is a University Professor and Institute Director at the Faculty of Economics, University of Pécs. He has been actively contributing to academia since 2007 as a lecturer and researcher, and was appointed to his current role in 2022.

His research focuses on Economic Modeling, integrating Network Theory and Agent-Based Modeling with standard economic frameworks. He explores regional economic impact analysis, global production networks, and structural resilience of national economies through applied projects. Since 2017, he has led the EconNet research group, developing methodological tools for economic network analysis.
Recent publications highlight his work on smart specialization policy, production network structures, and interregional knowledge networks. These studies span journals like Regional Studies and Structural Change and Economic Dynamics, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches.
