András Gyimesi is an Assistant Professor at the Janus Pannonius College of Economics, University of Pécs. He obtained his PhD in 2023 with summa cum laude and has been teaching probability, statistics, econometrics, and data analysis in both Hungarian and English-language undergraduate programs since 2017.
- Education: Bachelor's (2014), MSc (2017) in Applied Economics, PhD (2023) from the Faculty's Doctoral School of Regional Politics and Economics.
His research focuses on causal econometrics and simulation models applied to economic networks, sports economics, labor economics, and macroeconomics. Since 2022, he collaborates with the EconNet research group on economic, production, and trade networks.
Recent publications explore competitive balance in European football leagues, trade disruptions during the Russia–Ukraine conflict, and relative age effects in football player valuations, reflecting his interdisciplinary approach combining econometrics, network analysis, and sports economics.
He maintains an active role in teaching and research, with a strong emphasis on data-driven analysis of complex economic systems.
