Tammy Smith is an Associate Professor and Director of Education in the School of Rural Health at Monash University's Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences. She holds a Doctor of Education from the University of Melbourne (2012) and has extensive experience spanning primary education, critical care nursing, and health professions education.
Her research focuses on intercultural communication in healthcare, pedagogical innovation, and social justice in education. Notable projects include the Mallee Living Histories initiative (2019-2021), which documented rural healthcare narratives, and the Portia Program exploring disciplinary collaboration in health education. She has led or contributed to 4 major research projects since 2016.
