Dr. Tammy Hulbert is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Art at RMIT University, specializing in curatorial studies and arts management. She holds a PhD from RMIT University (2012) titled 'The City as a Curated Space,' exploring urban environments and their impact on artistic engagement. Her academic roles include lecturing in the Masters of Arts (Arts Management) program and coordinating international programs.
Her research focuses on 'Curating Inclusive Cities,' emphasizing socially engaged art practices with marginalized communities. Key themes include migration, belonging, and art's role in fostering inclusive urban spaces. Tammy has curated numerous exhibitions globally, such as Hyphenated (2018) and Lumens Festival: Curating the Ancient City (2012 in Suzhou, China). She has held industry roles including Exhibition Coordinator at the Chinese Museum (Melbourne) and Curator at Newcontemporaries Gallery (Sydney).
Recipient of the ACUADS Innovation in Research Award (2021) and RMIT School of Art Teaching Award (2020), Tammy also advises on arts policy for organizations like Creative Victoria and the City of Melbourne. Her work intersects public art, diaspora studies, and community-driven cultural projects.
