معرفی
Tammy Chang is a Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine. Her research focuses on advancing liver tissue engineering and regenerative surgery through innovative applications of stem cell biology, mechano-signal transduction, and minimally invasive surgical techniques.
Her lab investigates three core areas: (1) the role of physical environments in hepatocyte function, (2) dimensionality in liver organoid development, and (3) surgical strategies for organoid engraftment. These studies aim to address the critical shortage of donor organs for liver transplantation by harnessing the liver's innate regenerative capacity and developing ex vivo engineered organs.
- Research Grants:
- NIH R01DK114311 (2017-2022)
- NASA (2018-2020)
- NSF/CASIS (2018-2021)
- Scientific Awards:
- American College of Surgeons Clowes Research Career Development Award
- Open Philanthropy Project Transformational Research Proposal
Her recent publications span topics including liver regeneration, organoid engineering, and non-thermal electroporation applications. These works emphasize interdisciplinary approaches at the intersection of biotechnology, cell biology, and clinical surgery.
