معرفی
Luc van der Laan is a Full Professor in the Department of Surgery at Erasmus MC, Faculty of Medicine. His research is deeply rooted in organoid technology, with a focus on cholangiocytes, bile ducts, and liver diseases.
His research interests span Organoid Medicine, Cholangiocyte Biology, Liver Disease, Regenerative Medicine, Tumor Microenvironment, and Extracellular Matrix. His work contributes significantly to understanding biliary development, liver cancer (particularly cholangiocarcinoma), and regenerative therapies for liver transplantation. He also explores immunological aspects through models of human lymph nodes and fibroblastic reticular cells.
The recent publications highlight a strong trend in using decellularized matrices and 3D organoid systems to model disease and regeneration. His work bridges tissue engineering, cancer biology, and immunology, with applications in drug testing and personalized medicine.
- Basic Science Established Investigator Award (June 2024)
He has supervised 22 research projects or students, indicating a strong mentoring role. His work is supported by extensive collaborations, as reflected in co-authorships across disciplines and institutions. He is involved in cutting-edge research on dietary microplastics and their health impacts, showing a broadening scope of public health relevance.
His research is conducted within a multidisciplinary team focused on organotypic models, tumor organoids, and regenerative medicine, leveraging advanced biomaterials and stem cell technologies.
