معرفی
Tamir Mendel is a Postdoctoral Associate at the Department of Technology of Management and Innovation, NYU Tandon School of Engineering. His research focuses on human-AI interaction, digital health, and mobile security, particularly addressing challenges faced by older adults in technology use. He holds a Ph.D. (2022) and M.Sc. (2017) in Industrial Engineering from Tel Aviv University, advised by Eran Toch. His work combines machine learning, generative AI, and ubiquitous computing to design ethical technologies improving healthcare and finance decision-making.
Education
- Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering, Tel Aviv University (2022)
- M.Sc. in Industrial Engineering, Tel Aviv University (2017)
Research Interests
Mendel’s interdisciplinary work spans human-AI ethics, digital health interventions, and mobile security solutions. He designs community-based systems (e.g., Meerkat app) to empower older adults through social support networks. Current projects explore algorithmic trust in healthcare AI and proactive mobile safety predictions using machine learning models (e.g., random forest, XGBoost).
Publications & Projects
Recent work includes studies on health query behavior with large language models (JMIR, 2025), trust in AI-driven remote patient monitoring (CSCW, 2024), and social support effectiveness for mobile phishing defense (CHI, 2023). His Meerkat system (CHI 2022) achieved 78% accuracy in predicting optimal support moments for older users.
Awards & Teaching
- Won 2022 Ein-Dor Student first runner-up prize for Information Systems Research
- Lectured courses like Big Data Engineering and Data Warehouses at NYU Tandon and Tel Aviv University
Lab & Collaborations
Current affiliations include NYU’s Technology Management & Innovation lab. Collaborations focus on interdisciplinary teams combining HCI, AI ethics, and aging studies.
