Oded Nov is the Morton L. Topfer Professor of Technology Management and Chair of the Technology Management and Innovation Department at NYU Tandon School of Engineering. He is affiliated with the Center for Urban Science + Progress (CUSP) and leads research in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Digital Health, and the Future of Work. His work explores the intersection of technology, decision-making, and societal impact, particularly in healthcare and citizen science.
Nov holds a Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge, an M.Sc. from the London School of Economics, and a B.A. from Tel Aviv University. His research has been supported by grants from the National Science Foundation, NIH, MacArthur Foundation, and others, totaling over $25 million in funding.
Key research interests include AI's impact on professions, telemedicine transformation, and the design of algorithmic advice systems. Notable awards include the NSF CAREER Award and NYU Tandon's Excellence in Research Award. His studies on generative AI in writing professions and ChatGPT’s medical advice accuracy highlight his contributions to understanding technology’s societal role.
Nov has published extensively in top venues like CHI, ACM, and JMIR, with over 200 publications. He leads initiatives like SONYC (Sounds of New York City), a citizen science project for urban noise monitoring, and collaborates on firearm ecosystem research to address public health challenges.
