Talya Deibel is a Senior Postdoctoral Researcher in the School of Law at University College Cork (UCC), where she contributes to the Law and the Inner Self project. Previously, she served as an Assistant Professor of Roman Law and Comparative Private Law at Bilkent University, where she also chaired the Legal History department. She holds an LLM in Law and Economics (2012) and a PhD in Private Law (2018) from Bilkent University.
Her research integrates private law, philosophy, and technology, revitalizing classical and medieval Roman legal frameworks to address modern issues such as digital technology, AI, global trade, education, gender, and ethics. She has held postdoctoral and visiting roles at institutions including the University of Oxford, Unidroit, La Sapienza University Rome, the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law, and the University of Amsterdam’s ACT Center.
