Dr. Luke Noonan is a Lecturer in Law at University College Cork (UCC), having joined the School of Law in September 2023. Previously, he served as an Assistant Professor in Criminal Law at Dublin City University (2023). He holds a PhD in Law from UCC (2024), funded by the Irish Research Council, under the supervision of Dr. Catherine O'Sullivan and Dr. Darius Whelan. His research focuses on mental condition defences in criminal justice systems, particularly aligning with the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). Since 2024, he has been Deputy Director of the Centre for Criminal Justice and Human Rights and Co-Director of the Irish Legal Information Initiative since 2020. His work emphasizes reforming legal frameworks to protect the rights of persons with disabilities within criminal law contexts.

Research Interests
