Taien Ng-Chan is an Assistant Professor in Cinema and Media Arts at York University and Director of the Sensorium. She holds a PhD from Concordia University and is the York Research Chair in Marginal & Emergent Media. Her work spans creative writing, digital media art, and interdisciplinary research, focusing on experimental mapping, extended reality (XR), and community-engaged projects.
Education: BFA (University of British Columbia), MA, MFA, PhD (Concordia University).

- Experimental cartography and spatial performance
- Community-building through digital media
- Intersection of art, technology, and public space

Current Projects: Developing Marginal MediaWorks studio-lab for XR research, and an immersive media project blending karaoke, self-representation, and critical care themes. She also chairs the International Cartographic Association's Commission for Art and Cartography.
