Tae Hun Kim is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry at the School of Medicine, Case Western Reserve University, and a member of the Cancer Genomics and Epigenomics Program at the Case Comprehensive Cancer Center. His research focuses on DNA damage repair mechanisms, epigenetic modifications, and chromatin dynamics using structural biology and biophysical tools.
- Education: PhD (University of Toronto, 2016); Postdoctoral Fellow (Hospital for Sick Children/University of Toronto)
Dr. Kim investigates how transcription factors, DNA damage response proteins, and epigenetic regulators alter chromatin structure and function. His work explores:
- Molecular mechanisms of nucleosome reorganization
- Role of histone modifications in DNA repair
- Drug interactions with chromatin-associated proteins
- Liquid-liquid phase separation in gene regulation
His laboratory employs multidisciplinary approaches including:
- NMR spectroscopy
- Cryo-electron microscopy
- Fluorescence microscopy
- Molecular and protein biology techniques
