معرفی
Professor Tadj Oreszczyn is a leading academic at University College London (UCL), holding the title of Professor of Energy and Environment within the Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources. He founded the UCL Energy Institute (2009) and the Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources (2014), and served as Director of the RCUK Centre for Energy Epidemiology. Currently, he leads the Smart Energy Research Lab (SERL) and Energy Demand Observatory and Laboratory (EDOL), enabling access to smart energy data for researchers. He co-leads the mitigation theme of the Lancet Countdown on Health and Climate Change.
Research Focus: For over 34 years, Oreszczyn has investigated the performance gap between theoretical and real-world building energy efficiency, emphasizing health and comfort impacts. His work spans energy epidemiology, domestic energy demand, and climate change mitigation, with over 200 publications. He contributed to UK Building Regulations and advised the Royal Society/Royal Institution on energy and climate lectures.
Scientific Leadership: He has received the CIBSE Carter Bronze Medal (2004) and held leadership roles in institutions like the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE). His recent articles analyze energy use during crises (e.g., cost-of-living, pandemics), EPC modeling inaccuracies, and behavioral drivers for heat pump performance.
Teaching: He leads the Fundamentals module of the Smart Energy and the Built Environment MSc at UCL.
