معرفی
Cliff Elwell is Professor of Building Physics at University College London's Bartlett School Env, Energy & Resources. He leads the Physical Characterisation of Buildings group and co-leads the UCL-Energy Buildings Theme.
- Course Director - Smart Energy and the Built Environment MSc
- Deputy Director - EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Energy Demand (LoLo)
- Deputy Director - CDT in Energy Resilience and the Built Environment (ERBE)
His research focuses on applying physical principles and advanced statistical analysis to characterize building performance through in situ monitoring. Key areas include thermal performance assessment, ventilation dynamics, airtightness evaluation, and the unintended consequences of building retrofits.
Research projects include:
- UK Centre for Research in Energy Demand Solutions (CREDS) - Leading sub-theme 1.2 on low energy retrofit
- BEIS Green Homes Grant - Smart Meter Enabled Thermal Efficiency Ratings (GHG-SMETER)
- IEA Annex 71 - Building energy performance assessment using in-situ measurements
Scientific awards:
- Napier Shaw Bronze Medal (2020) - CIBSE
- Carter Bronze Medal (2021) - CIBSE
Teaching includes directing the Smart Energy and the Built Environment MSc program and supervising doctoral research through EPSRC CDTs.
