Sylvie Da Lomba is a Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of Strathclyde, specializing in International Migration Law and EU Law. She teaches European Union Law and International Migration Law, and previously served as Director for Postgraduate Research in the Law School (2015–2020). Her research focuses on migrants’ rights, human rights, migration governance, and vulnerability theory. She has conducted projects with organizations like the Scottish Refugee Council and British Red Cross, and is a member of the editorial board of Laws and the Ethnic Minorities Law Centre's Board of Directors. She is actively involved in research projects addressing migration policies and sustainable development goals.
- Education: PhD in Law from the University of Glasgow (2000)
Her research interests include irregular migrants’ access to healthcare, EU asylum law, and refugee integration. She has published extensively on topics such as migrants’ social rights and the interplay between migration governance and human rights.
Current projects include analyzing the UK’s approach to asylum seekers and exploring the UN Global Goals’ interconnectedness with migrants in Scotland. She has delivered invited talks and peer-reviewed articles across international platforms.
