Professor Sylvia Collins-Mayo is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Criminology and Sociology at Kingston University, affiliated with the School of Law, Social and Behavioural Sciences. She joined Kingston University in 1997 after completing her PhD at the University of Surrey and was ordained as a priest in the Church of England in 2022, bridging her academic and personal interests.

Recent work examines Street Pastors' collaboration with police and local governments to enhance night-time economy safety. She employs qualitative methods to study how religious heritage intersects with contemporary youth culture.
As Head of Department, she oversees academic operations while teaching sociology of religion and social research methods. She actively seeks to supervise doctoral candidates in her research domains.
