Sylvia Biscoveanu

Sylvia Biscoveanu is an incoming Assistant Professor of Physics at Princeton University (starting September 2025). She currently holds a NASA Einstein Fellowship at CIERA/Northwestern University. Her research focuses on gravitational wave astrophysics, leveraging Bayesian methods to analyze compact-object mergers, electromagnetic counterparts, and stochastic backgrounds.

Education:

• PhD in Physics (2023), MIT, advised by Salvatore Vitale
• Fulbright Postgraduate Scholar, Monash University (Australia), LIGO data analysis
• Bachelor's Degrees in Physics & Spanish from Penn State's Schreyer Honors College, with minors in Mathematics and Music.

Research Interests:

• Parameter estimation for binary coalescences
• Multimessenger observations of kilonovae and gamma-ray bursts
• Stochastic gravitational-wave background analysis

Affiliations: LIGO Scientific Collaboration member, bilby developer, and contributor to open-source gravitational wave analysis tools.
