Sven Pattloch is a doctoral researcher at the Cluster of Excellence liv MatS within the Freiburg Center for Interactive Materials and Bioinspired Technologies (FIT) at the University of Freiburg. His research focuses on theoretical modeling of non-equilibrium chemical fueling, self-regulation, and adaptation in hydrogel-based materials. He develops models using reaction-diffusion approaches to study bistable dynamically coupled modules, aiming to design programmable materials with time-dependent responses under multi-stimuli protocols. His work bridges soft matter physics, materials science, and theoretical chemistry. Supervised by Prof. Joachim Dzubiella, Pattloch has published in journals such as Physical Review E and Soft Matter.
His research interests include hydrogel dynamics, non-equilibrium thermodynamics, and adaptive materials. Pattloch's models explore memory effects and path-dependent adaptation in materials, contributing to the rational design of smart materials in livMatS. He has presented at livMatS colloquia and contributes to the IDEASfactory@FIT initiative. Though no formal awards are listed, his work demonstrates significant contributions to theoretical frameworks in adaptive materials science.
