Dr. Kun Dai is a Research Fellow at the Cluster of Excellence liv MatS @ FIT – Freiburg Center for Interactive Materials and Bioinspired Technologies, University of Freiburg. His primary role involves advancing the development of biologically adaptive and interactive peptide materials, focusing on understanding the origin of life and imitating its dynamic molecular behaviors through peptide-based systems. His research integrates chemistry, materials science, and biochemistry to engineer self-organizing materials capable of dynamic adaptation and communication with biological systems.
His academic work emphasizes the synthesis of peptide networks driven by non-equilibrium self-assembly pathways, leveraging amino acid side chain recognition and phase behavior to achieve selective oligomerization. Key projects include the spontaneous elongation of peptides in water and the design of chemically fueled systems for controllable self-assembly.
Dr. Dai collaborates closely with Dr. Charalampos Pappas as his primary supervisor. His contributions align with the liv MatS mission to explore interactive materials and bioinspired technologies. Recent publications highlight advancements in peptide chemistry, phase-driven reactions, and synthetic biology approaches.
He has presented at livMatS colloquia and participates in interdisciplinary events, reflecting his engagement with broader scientific communities. His work bridges fundamental research and applied materials science, aiming to create innovative bioinspired technologies.
