Suzanne Morton is a Professor of History at McGill University, specializing in 20th-century Canadian social and gender history. Her work focuses on intersections of values, society, state, and place. She holds a PhD from Dalhousie University (1990).
Research interests include social ecology, political economy, and Atlantic Canada studies. Key publications include *Wisdom, Justice and Charity* (2014), *At Odds* (2003), and *Ideal Surroundings* (1995). Current SSHRC-supported research explores lobster fisheries and localism in Canada's Atlantic Coast.
Teaching emphasizes Canadian post-Confederation history, gender studies, and Atlantic Canada. She co-edited *Separate Spheres* (1994), *Making Up the State* (2010), and served as co-editor of *Canadian Historical Review* and *Acadiensis*. Office hours: Winter 2024 Wednesdays 15:00–17:00.
