Dr. Jerry Bannister is an Associate Professor and Graduate Coordinator in the Department of History at Dalhousie University, with cross-affiliation to the Marine Affairs Program. His research focuses on Canadian history, modern Atlantic Canada, and the early modern Atlantic world. He holds a BA (Honours) from Memorial University, an MA and PhD from the University of Toronto.
His scholarly works include edited volumes on British North American history, legal history of Newfoundland and Labrador, and transatlantic loyalist networks. Recent publications include Violence, Order, and Unrest (2019) and Essays on the Legal History of Newfoundland and Labrador (2019). His earlier works explore naval governance in Newfoundland and 20th-century global history.
