Manuel Helbig is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics & Atmospheric Science at Dalhousie University's Faculty of Science. His research focuses on interactions between terrestrial ecosystems and the atmosphere, with particular emphasis on carbon cycling and energy fluxes in boreal ecosystems.

Research interests include:
- Land-Atmosphere Feedbacks: Investigating interactions between terrestrial ecosystems and atmospheric processes.
- Micrometeorology: Detailed study of atmospheric phenomena near the Earth's surface.
- Boundary Layer Meteorology: Analysis of the lowest atmospheric layer directly influenced by surface conditions.
- Boreal Ecosystem Dynamics: Quantifying carbon and energy exchanges in cold climate biomes.
