Lisa Pasolli is an Associate Professor and Chair of Graduate Studies in the Department of History at Queen's University, within the Faculty of Arts and Science. Her research focuses on 20th-century Canadian social policy, gender studies, and the politics of childcare. She holds a PhD from the University of Victoria (2012), an MA from the University of New Brunswick (2007), and a BA from the University of Lethbridge (2005). Her work has been recognized with awards including the Canadian Historical Association’s BC Clio Prize.
Research interests include the history of motherhood, welfare state development, taxation as social policy, and gendered labor dynamics. Current projects examine Canada’s childcare policies since WWII and the role of tax expenditures in social welfare. She collaborates on a SSHRC-funded project reimagining family policies for diverse Canadian families with young children.
Selected publications include her award-winning book *Working Mothers and the Child Care Dilemma* (2015) and articles on wartime childcare debates, feminist labor history, and regional policy networks. Her courses cover post-Confederation Canada, social history, and 20th-century political developments.
Awards and grants include SSHRC Insight Development (2019–2022) and a SSHRC Partnership Grant (2020–2027). She advises students in Canadian social and political history, emphasizing interdisciplinary and gendered approaches.
