Dr. Suzanne Mithieux is a Research Fellow at the University of Sydney's School of Life and Environmental Sciences, affiliated with the Charles Perkins Centre. Her research focuses on advanced biomaterials for regenerative medicine, particularly in vascular engineering, elastic tissue regeneration, and wound healing solutions. She develops novel hydrogels and elastomeric composites to address unmet clinical needs in cardiovascular repair, bone regeneration, and skin reconstruction.
Her work integrates molecular engineering principles with biocompatible materials, emphasizing the role of tropoelastin and polymeric systems in modulating cellular behavior. Key projects include bioprinted vascularized tissues, magnetically responsive hydrogels, and scalable manufacturing techniques for elastic constructs.
Dr. Mithieux has contributed to 60+ peer-reviewed publications and multiple patents, including innovations in injectable hydrogels and bioactive vascular grafts. Her research spans interdisciplinary collaborations between biomedical engineering, veterinary science, and polymer chemistry.
