Suzanne Hendrix

Suzanne Hendrix, DMA, is an Associate Professor of Voice & Vocology at the University of Northern Iowa’s School of Music. A renowned mezzo-soprano, she has performed at prestigious opera houses including the Metropolitan Opera, Vienna State Opera, and Seattle Opera, earning acclaim for her Wagnerian vocal scope and unique richness.

• Education: D.M.A. (University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory), M.M. & B.M.E. (University of Northern Iowa)

Her research interests focus on voice pedagogy, operatic performance, and vocology, with a specialization in Wagnerian repertoire and classical singing techniques. Dr. Hendrix has collaborated with world-class conductors like Asher Fisch and Francesca Zambello, and her work is documented in recordings such as Seattle Opera’s Die Walküre and the documentary My Own Private Ring.
