Suzanne Anderson

Suzanne Anderson is a certified TESOL instructor at Seattle Central College's Continuing Education program, teaching English for over a dozen years with deep roots in Seattle's Capitol Hill community. Her interactive approach emphasizes group work, cultural exchange, and embracing mistakes as essential to language learning, drawing from personal experience moving to Paris without knowing French.

Anderson's instructional focus centers on Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) with specialized applications for refugee populations, US Citizenship Exam preparation, and au pairs. She leverages her background as a child of immigrants and firsthand language-learning challenges to create classrooms representing dozens of countries, fostering dynamic cross-cultural dialogue through discussions, games, and peer learning.

Beyond teaching, Anderson has hosted over 150 University of Washington international students as a host mom and volunteers directly with refugee communities for citizenship exam preparation. Her commitment to immigrant integration extends to personal advocacy, informed by her parents' immigrant journey and her own adaptation to life abroad.
