Susannah Wright is a Reader in Education Studies and Postgraduate Research Tutor at the School of Education, Humanities and Languages, Oxford Brookes University. She holds a PhD from Oxford Brookes University and has been a Senior Lecturer since 2009. Her research focuses on the history of education and childhood, particularly secularism, moral education, and war/peace commemoration in schools. She co-edited the History of Education (2014–2019) and currently serves as Hon. Secretary of the History of Education Society (UK). She leads the Humanistic Perspectives research group, exploring humanistic methodologies in education. Her notable award includes the Kevin Brehony Prize (2020) for her monograph on secular approaches to morality in English schools.
Her teaching includes module leadership for ECS7001 Childhoods in Context and supervision of MA dissertations and research students. She oversees over 30 postgraduate researchers and has mentored doctoral students in history and education. Her current projects include the Remembrance in Schools study (2013–2019) and research on youth peace organizations (1920s–1960s). She has secured grants from the Nuffield Foundation and HE Academy, and her work spans historical analysis, oral histories, and educational policy.
