Susannah Robert

Susannah Robert is a Senior Lecturer in primary music and drama and Course Lead for the full-time Primary PGCE course at St. Mary’s University, where she has been since 2011. She holds a BA (Hons) in Drama, a PGCE in Primary Education, and an MA in Academic Practice. Her work focuses on enhancing creative subjects’ accessibility and enjoyment in teacher training, emphasizing their impact on children’s learning and wellbeing.

Prior to academia, Susannah spent 15 years in primary schools as a lead literacy teacher and music specialist. She collaborated with the Richmond Music Trust and co-organized events like the Richmond Singing Festival. She is also a trustee for a community school in Livingstone, Zambia, sharing educational insights with East African colleagues.

Awarded Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy, her professional contributions span teacher development, creative pedagogy, and international educational outreach. Her roles combine academic leadership with advocacy for arts integration in primary education.
