Kerry Assemakis is a Senior Lecturer in Primary English at St Mary’s University, specializing in teacher education and creative pedagogies. She joined the university in 2014 after roles as a primary school English subject lead and Lead English teacher in Richmond borough. Her research focuses on creative and arts-based methodologies, participatory inquiry, and teacher identity development, particularly in writing and literacy education.

Her work explores how creative writing practices shape teacher identities and student engagement. Notable projects include the Get Hounslow Writing initiative (focusing on KS1/KS2 teacher development) and a transnational teacher-writer identity project. She co-leads an Open University/UKLA reading group promoting 'reading for pleasure' professional development.
Awards & Recognition: Commended for Walpole Prize (St Mary’s University) for work with student teachers as writers.
