معرفی
Susan McDonnell is an Associate Professor at the School of Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering, University College Dublin. She holds a BSc in Biochemistry (UCD) and a PhD in Cell Biology (Dublin City University), with postdoctoral research at Vanderbilt University. She has held academic roles at Dublin City University (1992–2004) and UCD since 2004, receiving a Fulbright Scholarship in 1997 for sabbatical research at Memorial-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. She is an active member of the Irish and American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), serving on the Irish AACR council.
Her research focuses on three key areas: (1) enhancing productivity in Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells for biopharmaceutical production, (2) studying invasive mechanisms in triple-negative breast cancer using isogenic cell models, and (3) investigating the role of Plac8 in cell proliferation and apoptosis regulation. Her work has been funded by organizations including HRB, Enterprise Ireland, Irish Cancer Society, and Intertrade Ireland.
Dr. McDonnell teaches modules such as Biopharmaceutical Engineering, Bioanalytical Science, and Facility Design. She coordinates programs addressing bioprocessing, regulatory compliance, and lean sigma methodologies in biopharma. Recent publications highlight advancements in AAV purification platforms, metabolic profiling of cancer cells, and exosome-mediated phenotypic transfer.
