معرفی
Assoc. Prof Paula Meleady is a senior academic at the School of Biotechnology, Dublin City University (DCU). She serves as Senior Research Scientist and Associate Director at the National Institute for Cellular Biology (NICB), while also leading the Proteomics Core Facility since 2007. Her academic career spans over 25 years at DCU, starting as a PhD student (1993-1997), followed by postdoctoral research (1997-2001), and subsequent faculty roles.
- Education:
- BSc (Hons) Biotechnology, DCU (1989-1993)
- PhD, National Cell and Tissue Culture Centre, DCU (1993-1997)
Paula specializes in proteomics, with expertise in clinical proteomics, mass spectrometry, biopharmaceutical manufacturing, and cancer research (particularly uveal melanoma and pancreatic cancer). Her work extends to bioprocessing of Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cells, focusing on improving protein production for therapeutic applications.
Her recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on proteomic profiling across diverse systems, including oncology, neuromuscular diseases, nano-biomaterials, and metabolic stress responses. Key methodologies include label-free LC-MS, 2D-gel electrophoresis, and phosphoproteomics.
Paula leads the Proteomics Core Facility at NICB, collaborating extensively with researchers in neuromuscular disorders, oncology, and biopharma. Her team has contributed to understanding drug resistance mechanisms, protein corona formation, and disease biomarkers through multi-omics approaches.
