Susan Flocke, Ph.D. is a Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Her academic career spans over two decades with significant contributions to primary care research, particularly in preventive services delivery and tobacco cessation.
Dr. Flocke received her M.A. from Cleveland State University in 1990 and completed her Ph.D. at Case Western Reserve University in 1997. Her research program focuses on enhancing preventive service delivery in primary care, effective clinician-patient communication for health behavior change, and building linkages to community resources.
Her research interests include implementing evidence-based interventions in primary care, cancer prevention and control, tobacco assessment and assistance, measurement methodologies, mixed methods research, and doctor-patient communication. Current projects focus on tobacco assessment and cessation support in community health centers, developing measures of nicotine dependence among adolescent cigarillo users, and implementing eReferral systems to increase tobacco cessation support for socially disadvantaged patients.
Dr. Flocke's publication record demonstrates consistent research productivity in primary care and preventive medicine, with a focus on practical implementation of evidence-based practices in real-world settings. Her work spans methodological approaches including direct observation studies, survey research, and intervention development.
