Susan Connolly is a Lecturer in the Department of Arts at South East Technological University (SETU), with a focus on visual art practice. She has held academic roles at institutions including Ulster University, Limerick Institute of Technology, and the Institute of Technology Sligo, while also serving as an External Examiner and Mentor for universities in Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Her research explores the intersection of painting, sculpture, and spatial intervention through Painting in the Expanded Field symposium (2024) and practice-led outputs. She investigates how gallery architecture and historical context influence contemporary painting methodologies, with a particular emphasis on female Irish artists' contributions to visual culture.
Recent works like GROUND: Solo Exhibition (2024) demonstrate her focus on non-traditional presentation formats, while her 2022 GENERATION22 contribution highlights collaborative Irish art practices. Awards include the 2023 Freelands Foundation Fellowship and multiple Agility Awards for collaborative research.
