Sunyu Chai

Sunyu Chai is a Lecturer in Digital Entrepreneurship at the Southampton Business School, University of Southampton. She holds a PhD in Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts Boston (2022), where she received a Dean’s Fellowship. Her research focuses on digital technology’s societal impacts, organizational theory, and the intersection of science, technology, and society (STS). She has presented work at leading conferences like the Academy of Management and EGOS Colloquium, and her research has been published in Journal of Business Ethics.

Teaching responsibilities include leading the MSc Digital Business Programme and teaching modules such as Digital Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Innovation. She supervises PhD students and advises on undergraduate/master’s dissertations. Sunyu is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) since 2023.

Her awards include the Ph.D. Award for Academic Distinction (2018), Craig R. Bollinger Memorial Research Grant (2020), and Early Career Researchers Career Development Fund (2023). Her interdisciplinary research explores digital transformations’ cultural and industrial implications, emphasizing methodological innovation in organizational studies.
