Sunny Wong

Assoc Prof Sunny Wong serves as Associate Professor of Nutrition, Digestion and Metabolism and Assistant Dean of Academic Medicine at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University Singapore.

Dr Wong received his MBChB with Honors from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and completed his DPhil at the University of Oxford focusing on human genetics and infectious diseases. His clinical training in gastroenterology and endoscopy was completed at Prince of Wales Hospital Hong Kong.

His primary research focuses on gut microbiome interactions in digestive and metabolic diseases, with emphasis on discovering novel biomarkers and therapeutics. His work spans Microbiome Medicine, Nutrition and Metabolism, Biomedical Informatics, and Digestive Diseases, contributing significantly to understanding host-microbe relationships in human health.

Dr Wong's scientific contributions have been recognized with prestigious awards:

• Lo Ying Shek Chi Wai Foundation Meritorious Research Award (2020)

With over 160 peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals including Nature Genetics, Nature Communications, Gastroenterology, and Gut, Dr Wong has established himself as a leading researcher in his field. He currently serves as Associate Editor for the Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and maintains an active research program investigating the complex relationship between gut microbiota and human health.
