Sunita Abraham is a Lecturer in Decolonisation (Teaching and Engagement) at the School of Global Affairs, Lancaster University. Her work bridges academia and grassroots development, focusing on systemic change in higher education through decolonising initiatives that connect staff, students, and communities. She teaches across the Politics, Philosophy and Religious Studies (PPR) department, the Lancaster Environment Centre (LEC), and the History department.
- Research Interests: Decolonisation, race, inequality, critical pedagogy, state-society relations, refugee studies, and historical links between Lancaster families and the transatlantic slave trade.
- Projects: Co-convening the Decolonising Lancaster University Network and the Lancaster University Sanctuary Network; Research Coordinator for the Slavery Family Trees Research Project.
- External Roles: Member of the East meets West Committee (supporting asylum seekers/refugees) and the Lancaster Black History Committee.
- Award: Recipient of the Lancaster and Partner Education Conference Award 2022.
