Dr. Anne Ruderman is an Assistant Professor of Economic History at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Her research focuses on the transatlantic slave trade, early modern Europe, and the Atlantic World. She holds a PhD from Yale University and has held prestigious fellowships at Harvard and Sciences Po. Her book Supplying the Slave Trade (Yale UP, 2024) examines European-African trade dynamics. She teaches courses on Atlantic slavery, economic change, and women's history at LSE.
Education: PhD (Distinction) in History from Yale University (2016), MA from Yale (2009), AB magna cum laude from Princeton (2001).
Research Interests: Transatlantic trade networks, African consumer demand, digital history methodologies, and the intersection of race and economic systems. Her work combines archival research with innovative digital tools to analyze historical trade data.
Awards & Grants: National Science Foundation Award (2021–2024), ACLS Fellowship (2020–2021), multiple teaching awards from LSE, and over 30 competitive fellowships including those from the Economic History Association and Mellon Foundation.
Professional Contributions: Guest editor of Business History Review's special issue on capitalism and slavery (2023). Active in academic service, including roles on the LSE Teaching Committee and Economic History Association program committee.
