Sunila Akbar serves as a Sessional Assistant Professor in the Teaching Stream at York University's Lassonde School of Engineering within the Department of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science, a position she assumed in July 2024 after previously working as a Postdoctoral Fellow and Instructor at the University of Toronto's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering since October 2021.
Her academic foundation includes a Ph.D. from King's College London, UK (2018), earned under the prestigious Commonwealth Scholarship program.
Dr. Akbar's research integrates machine learning with radar and wireless systems, focusing on cognitive resource management optimization and statistical modeling for spectral/energy-efficient networks. Her work demonstrates strong interdisciplinary connections between artificial intelligence, signal processing, and communication theory with practical engineering applications.
