معرفی
Sunghee Cho, Ph.D., is a Professor of Neuroscience at Weill Cornell Medicine and serves as Lab Director at the Stroke Neuroimmunology Laboratory at Burke Neurological Institute. She is also affiliated with the Brain and Mind Research Institute and holds editorial roles at prominent journals including Stroke and Cerebral Blood Flow/Metabolism.
- Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Weill Cornell Medical College
- M.S. in Human Nutrition, Cornell University
- B.S. in Chemistry, Yonsei University
Her research focuses on neuron-immune interactions in stroke-induced brain injury and repair mechanisms. Key areas include CD36 receptor signaling, blood-brain barrier dysfunction, monocyte infiltration, and metabolic modulation of stroke outcomes. Current studies investigate obesity's impact on stroke recovery and therapeutic targeting of neuroinflammatory pathways.
Recent publications highlight trends in CD36 inhibition for neuroprotection, remote ischemic conditioning, and molecular mechanisms linking metabolic disorders with stroke severity. Collaborative work with the Ratan Lab explores ER stress pathways in neurodegeneration.
- Fellow of American Heart/Stroke Association (FAHA)
- NIH Neural Oxidative Metabolism and Death (NOMD) Study Section member
- Editorial roles at Stroke journals
Her research is funded by NINDS, NHLBI, American Heart Association, Sanofi, and the Burke Foundation. She leads the Preclinical Stroke Modeling program at Burke Neurological Institute and collaborates with European research consortia.
