Sumangali (Suma) Rajiva is an Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Memorial University's Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. She specializes in Kant's epistemology, metaphysics, ethics, and aesthetics, with additional expertise in early modern philosophy (Descartes to Hume) and ancient philosophy (particularly Plato).
Her current research projects include a book manuscript exploring Kant's concept of reflecting judgment across epistemology, aesthetics, and philosophy of life. She is also investigating political dimensions of being and becoming in Plato's Sophist and Statesman. Dr. Rajiva maintains active research interests in German Idealism, Marxism, and philosophical themes in literature ranging from Homer to contemporary works.
She teaches courses on Descartes, Hume, Kant, Plato, and the history of ancient and modern philosophy, while supervising graduate students working on various philosophical traditions.
