Suleyman Coskun is an Associate Research Scientist in the Department of Neurosurgery at Yale University School of Medicine. He holds a PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Baylor College of Medicine and an MSc in Biotechnology from Middle East Technical University. His research focuses on genetic and epigenetic mechanisms underlying brain cancers, including meningiomas and gliomas. He has held a visiting professorship at Middle East Technical University (2022) and received prestigious awards like the TÜBİTAK International Fellowship (2020) and Fulbright Visiting Scholar (2004).
His key research areas include tumor genomics, stem cell niche regulation, and vascular biology in neurological diseases. Recent work has identified critical pathways in meningioma development and characterized the role of osteolineage cells in hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) maturation. He collaborates extensively with teams at Yale and globally on projects like genomic analyses of brain tumors and nanoparticle-based gene editing.
Dr. Coskun’s lab is located at the Anlyan Center, Yale, and his work spans translational research from molecular mechanisms to potential therapeutic targets. Notable contributions include studies on PPIL4’s role in brain angiogenesis and super-enhancer-driven hedgehog signaling in meningiomas.
