Sue Woolfe is an Honorary Associate in the Discipline of English and Writing at the University of Sydney. She holds a DCA from UTS (2006) for her novel The Secret Cure and its accompanying dissertation on creativity and neuroscience. Her academic work bridges literature and cognitive science, exploring narrative techniques and the neurobiological underpinnings of creativity. She has taught at Sydney University, NIDA, and internationally, including BBC programs.
Her research interests include creative writing, neuroscience, and narrative innovation. Awards include the Christina Stead Award and Commonwealth Writers’ Prize for Leaning Towards Infinity. Recent publications include a 2024 article on trauma and creative writing in Times Higher Education, and a 2021 chapter in The Rise of the Australian Neurohumanities.
Woolfe’s creative works span novels, short stories, and adaptations for stage, radio, and film. Her latest novel, Do You Love Me or What?, is a critically acclaimed short story collection. She also runs international writing retreats and collaborates on interdisciplinary projects, such as an opera adaptation of The Secret Cure.
