Professor Sue Randall is a Professor of Nursing (Rural and Remote/Primary Health Care) at the University of Sydney, affiliated with the Susan Wakil School of Nursing and Midwifery and the Charles Perkins Centre. She holds a PhD in Health Studies and has over 36 years of clinical and academic experience in the UK and Australia, focusing on chronic conditions, workforce development, and primary health care equity.
Her academic career spans Coventry University (UK) and the University of Sydney since 2014. She leads research in rural nursing workforce strategies, inter-professional education, and qualitative methodologies. Current projects include evaluating school-based nursing placements, opioid disorder care models, and influenza vaccination practices.
Research interests center on rural health equity, nursing education innovation, and chronic disease management. Key projects include the SKAI immunization initiative (awarded VC’s Engagement Prize) and policy reforms for venous leg ulcers. She supervises 3 PhD candidates and has examined numerous theses.
Awards include the 2020 Coloplast Biatain Literary Award and 2019 SKAI Team VC Award. Major grants include the OCEAN-WIP-PS study ($6.99M) and the Healthy Back Study ($1.985M) addressing rural chronic back pain and opioid dependency.
Teaching roles include postgraduate certificate in higher education and inter-professional pedagogies. She is a member of the Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association and Australian Association for Academic Primary Care.
