Stuart Alan Weinzimer, MD is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Yale School of Medicine, specializing in Pediatric Endocrinology & Diabetes. He holds appointments in the Diabetes Program and the Yale Children’s Diabetes Program. His research focuses on automated insulin delivery systems, artificial pancreas development, and improving diabetes care for pediatric populations. Dr. Weinzimer earned his BA from Yale University and MD from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, completing residency and fellowship training at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania before joining Yale in 2002.
Key research interests include clinical trials of closed-loop insulin delivery systems, glycemic control technologies, and addressing healthcare disparities in diabetes management. He leads NIH- and JDRF-funded projects and collaborates on consensus guidelines for diabetes technology use. Notable achievements include pioneering work on the artificial pancreas and receiving the Mae Gailani Award for Clinical Care and Research (2006), the JDRF Dream Award (2009), and the Mary Tyler Moore Excellence in Clinical Research Award (2011).
