Full Professor Stjepan Posavec is affiliated with the University of Zagreb’s Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology, Department of Wood Technology. His career includes roles as research assistant (2005–2009), assistant professor (2009–2013), associate professor (2013–2019), and full professor since 2019. He has held professional roles in companies like EXPORTDRVO dd (1994–1995) and HRVATSKE ŠUME D.O.O. (1997–present). His research focuses on forestry economics, environmental economics, and non-wood forest products, with particular emphasis on sustainable management, fire prevention, and ecotourism.
Research interests include economic analysis of forest management strategies, certification of non-wood products, and socio-economic challenges in forestry. He has contributed to studies on urban forestry in Zagreb, carbon storage in Croatian ecosystems, and fire protection policies in karst regions. Over 50 peer-reviewed articles since 2011 reflect his interdisciplinary approach, combining economic modeling with ecological and policy analyses.
Advocates for integrating economic viability with environmental stewardship, his work bridges academic research and practical forestry applications. He collaborates internationally on projects like PESFOR-W and FACESMAP, addressing cross-border forestry challenges in Southeast Europe.
