Matija Landekić is an Associate Professor at the University of Zagreb's Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology, Department of Forestry. He holds a PhD and has been affiliated with the university since 2008, progressing from Assistant to Senior Assistant before his current position. His research focuses on improving occupational safety, optimizing workflows, and addressing labor shortages in forestry. Key areas include risk management in protected areas, ergonomic improvements for forestry machinery operators, and national/international forest policy analysis.
He teaches courses such as Organizational behavior in forestry and Safety and organization of work in urban and protected forests, emphasizing practical skills and safety protocols. His work integrates empirical studies and policy analysis to enhance forestry practices, with notable contributions to chainsaw safety standards and workforce sustainability strategies.
Dr. Landekić's research spans forestry ergonomics, bioenergy production efficiency, and cross-border timber market dynamics. His articles often address labor-related challenges and environmental impact assessments. He collaborates on innovation projects, such as the ForSaf2024 initiative, promoting sustainable forestry practices.
His professional experience includes roles in Croatia’s forestry sector and at Hrvatske šume d.o.o., providing a blend of academic and industry expertise. He actively contributes to international forestry forums and publishes extensively in peer-reviewed journals.
