Stipan Jonjić is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Rijeka, where he has held the Chair of the Center for Proteomics since 2006. He obtained his MD in 1976 and PhD in 1985 in virology and immunology. His academic leadership includes serving as Dean (1999-2003) and Vice-Rector (1993-1994) of the University of Rijeka, and Head of the Department of Histology and Embryology since 1996.

Research interests span Viral Immunology, Molecular Immunology, Proteomics, and Viral Pathogenesis, focusing on cytomegalovirus (CMV) immune evasion mechanisms and vaccine development. His work has shifted toward translational immunology, designing CMV-based vaccine vectors.

Labs and teams: He leads the Center of Excellence for Virus Immunology and Vaccines and maintains over a dozen collaborations across Europe, the US, and Canada.
