Steven Woodward serves as a Visiting Instructor in the English and Creative Writing Department at Macalester College, with additional teaching appointments at Normandale Community College and Hamline University. He founded the editing semester within Sierra Nevada University's low-residency MA program.
His educational background includes:
- MFA in fiction from the University of Michigan
Woodward's expertise centers on Literary Publishing and Editing, with deep engagement in Contemporary Novels, Short Stories, and Creative Nonfiction. Drawing from over twelve years at Graywolf Press and Milkweed Editions, he has collaborated with award-winning authors across major literary prizes including the Booker Prize, National Book Award, and Pulitzer Prize.
He actively disseminates industry knowledge through presentations at AWP, the Loft Literary Center, Bread Loaf Writer’s Conference, and Grub Street’s The Muse and the Marketplace.
Woodward maintains an office in Old Main Room 217 and teaches Literary Publishing courses as part of Macalester's curriculum.
