Steven Sumner

Steven Sumner is Professor of Economics at University of San Diego's Knauss School of Business, specializing in macroeconomics, monetary policy, banking, and applied econometrics. With prior experience at the Federal Reserve Board, he brings practical policy insights to his teaching and research. Sumner holds a PhD and MA from UC San Diego and BA from Calvin College.

His research examines financial intermediation's role in transmitting economic shocks, focusing on banking systems and monetary mechanisms.
