Steven Maxwell is an Associate Professor at the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance at Kansas State University. He serves as Chair of the Wind and Percussion Division and is a Miraphone Performing Artist. Dr. Maxwell teaches tuba, euphonium, and the History of Rock and Roll while also leading the K-State Tuba Euphonium Ensemble and performing with the K-State Faculty Brass Quintet and Sysygy Trio.

Dr. Maxwell advocates for contemporary compositions, having commissioned over fifty works for tuba and euphonium. His 2019 solo album "Pretty Please?" features six new compositions. He has performed at prestigious events like the International Tuba and Euphonium Conference and the U.S. Army Band Tuba-Euphonium Workshop across the U.S. and Europe.
